Increasing the neighborhood run distance
Posted by Cheeseball under: Run.
This morning’s easier swim clinic left me with a lot of energy today, so I went out for a run in the evening. To my nice surprise, I felt pretty strong at my usual half point, so I decided to go a bit further. A couple times of 5k runs on the treadmill this week have helped me get used to a slightly longer distance run. I would’ve run a bit further to hit 3 miles, but it was getting too dark, so I turned around and headed home.
The second half was harder with some headwind. I felt flimsy a couple times - I couldn’t tell if it was the wind blowing my body to one side or some lightheadedness. After that came a bit of side pain. Ahh, the friendly Mr. Side Stitch still likes to say hi every so often. It’s not as bad as it used to be, but obviously I want it gone forever and ever. I’ve been doing some crunches to gain more core strength to try to help that, but it’s only been 3-4 times so far, and I’m clearly in need of more of it.
Anyway, it was nice to run back on the outside streets. I felt much stronger than myself a month ago.

Uh oh… someone’s ramping it up! Good job on the run and keep it up so Mr. Side Stitch gets kicked to the curb.
